Medical Education Lab Technician, Chicago, IL

Job Description:

The Medical Education Lab Technician ensures all lab events run smoothly by preparing instruments, organizing equipment, maintaining sterile/clean environments where required, and coordinating logistics for incoming and outgoing training materials. Candidates with hands-on knowledge of surgical instrumentation or sterile handling will excel in this role.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

​Represent Arthrex Chicago, the exclusive agency authorized to sell Arthrex products in Chicago and Northwest Indiana. Arthrex is a world-class leader in the orthopedic industry.

  • Set up and break down lab environments, including equipment, instruments, bio materials, and other supplies.

  • Package and coordinate shipments of equipment, tools, and materials for labs and events.

  • Maintain clean, orderly, and safe environments in accordance with industry standards.

  • Support the Medical Education Director with hands-on event operations and facility needs.

  • Prepare kits, trays, and instruments for upcoming training events.

  • Track, order, and maintain inventory of lab supplies; monitor stock levels and collaborate with Arthrex and internal partners as needed.

  • Receive and process incoming shipments; inspect items for accuracy and damage.

  • Maintain organized storage systems for inventory, ensuring timely availability.

  • Maintain documentation, inventory logs, and tracking sheets.

  • Communicate with internal teams, reps, and event coordinators regarding lab needs.

  • Support continuous improvement of lab workflows and efficiency.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience as a Scrub Tech, Sterile Processing Tech (SPD), clinical assistant.

  • Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile/clean handling practices, or lab operations.

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Comfortable working in lab environments with cadaveric specimens.

Preferred:

  • Experience with orthopedic instruments or medical device training environments.

  • Prior work with Arthrex or similar surgical device companies.

  • Familiarity with shipping/receiving processes or inventory systems.
